ESPN Is Giving University Of North Carolina Basketball The Miami Heat Treatment With Its Own Blog

ESPN has launched an all-North Carolina, all-the-time blog covering the preseason No. 1 basketball team in the country. 

It is not the first such school-specific blog by the worldwide leader – they already have football-themed blogs for Notre Dame and Stanford – but it is the first focused on the hardwood.

Call it the Heat-ification of covering sports.

ESPN unveiled the blog Monday with multiple stories by Robbi Pickeral, an eight-year veteran covering Tar Heel basketball. Posts have already covered topics ranging from the team’s preseason storylines to the player’s Twitter handles.

There’s no telling how successful a venture like this will be. It has already spawned some distasteful comments. 

But the blog will most likely go as far as the basketball team takes it. And for a team boasting at least three future first-round selections, confidence is high.
